BONUS Episode: Force Multipliers with Dave Frees

BONUS EPISODE: Recorded at Podcast Movement 2018 in Philadelphia at the TalkShoe podcast booth.  Today I am joined by Dave Frees, and we discuss Force Multipliers, which is a refers to a factor or a combination of factors that dramatically increases (hence "multiplies") the effectiveness of an item or group. In the military, force multipliers give troops the ability to do far more and to be more effective against an enemy than without it; however, the same principles apply to business.  For example, a business with no CRM program will not be as effective as a business with a good CRM program, but to take it one step further, a good CRM program combined with good training will make it even more effective.  Dave Frees explains this concept in far more detail and gives many examples throughout this episode.  If you enjoyed this episode you'll also enjoy Episode #2: Communication, Persuasion & Influence with Dave Frees.    Dave Frees MASTER CLAS...

INS050 - Indispensable Marketing (Tactics & Strategies) with Patrick McFadden

Image
Patrick McFadden is the owner of Indispensable Marketing, and today we discuss the importance of effective marketing and how it can make your sales process easier, or harder depending on how effective it is, and why advertising and sales are sub-sets of marketing.  Advertising is often confused with marketing because it is the most visual part of marketing, but marketing is all about building trust, and your trust is always on trial, so good marketing can build trust, whereas poor marketing can erode it.  Awareness & Education How often do you hear someone say, "I didn't know they did that"? These comments show missed opportunities for the business owner, and it is a sure sign they need to focus more on awareness and education. Online Searching & Content  People search online because they know they have a problem. Therefore we need to educate them on how we can help them, and it needs to be linked back to your solution. When you write a blog or...

FMF038 - Create A Disaster Folder

This is an area I do a lot of coaching around and it's something that most businesses overlook until a disaster occurs. Every business needs to create a DISASTER FOLDER, a place where you store all the steps required to quickly get your business back on track when something goes wrong.  Why Do You Need It? It's a great training tool for new team members It reminds existing team members how processes work and what needs to be done when problems occur It takes stress off the business owner and allows them to have a holiday in peace.  On this episode, I discuss equipment, plumbing, electrical, and computer & email problems, but also what happens when a key member of your team fails to show up for work and you have a busy day booked already with patients and clients.  Having a disaster folder will help get your business back on track faster and stop your business from losing money.  What I talk about in this episode only scratches the surface...

INS049 - Polygamy & The Millionaire Journey with Calvin Wayman

In 2015 Calvin Wayman threw in his cushy, safe job and decided to become an entrepreneur. He also decided he would document his journey from being in debt to becoming a self-made millionaire because too often we only ever see the end product of success, not the steps that took place to get them there. But before he even could even begin he had to overcome the mental shackles that came with growing up in a family with one father, four mothers and dozens of brothers and sisters. Calvin grew up in a polygamy family, and he was the first person in his family to get a college education. So the thought of ever being wealthy and financially free was not something that came easily to both Calvin and his wife.  What Do Succesful People Have In Common? If you look at Oprah, Gary Vaynerchuk, Steve Jobs, Jim Carey and Michael Jordan, they all have one thing in common. There's little to no content before their rise to the top.  Stories told after the fact lose a lot in translatio...

FMF037 - Marketing The Invisible: Services Not Products

My background is podiatry and just like a lot of other service-based business in the health and finance industries, what we offer, or should I say what we sell, because that’s exactly what we do, cannot be seen, it is basically invisible. Now I know podiatrists, dentists, physiotherapists do sell some product, like strapping tape, dental floss and knee & back braces, but before a patient or client to even know you have these products available, they need to make a decision to see you first. FMF035 - Do You Have A Client Induction System?

The aim of having an induction system is to ensure that first-time users of your business are greeted correctly and consistently when they arrive, and the key is consistency. Depending on your industry you may use client, patient or customer. The terminology may be different, but the principles are the same.  When a client arrives at our business, it is essential to acknowledge them immediately. It doesn’t matter how busy everyone is; it’s not difficult to give someone a simple smile to recognise his or her presence. There’s nothing worse than arriving somewhere, and the person at the front counter continues to talk on the telephone and does not acknowledge your existence. When you’re left hanging, sixty seconds can seem like an eternity. I get annoyed when I’m ignored and treated poorly.  What message do you want your clients to receive when they arrive at your business? Your client induction system is more than just a greeting. If it were just about greeting a clien...
