INS028 - How To Hire Super-Stars with Jay Henderson

Jay Henderson owns a business called  Real Talent Hiring  and is the author of the highly successful book  The Ultimate Small Business Guide To Hiring Super-Stars , and today we discuss how to identify super-stars for your business and also how to avoid duds.     If you want to scale your business, grow your business and reach your goals fast, and maybe retire quicker, you need to hire the right people. The poorer hiring decision you make the longer you'll have to wait for your goals.  One of the fastest ways to ruin your business is to hire the wrong person, but hiring the right person and putting them in the wrong position can be just as detrimental to your business.   Objective Reliability Objectively measuring how people think and make decisions, is far better than subjectively measuring how people will behave in certain situations. People can always fake their behaviour, but they cannot fake how they think and make dec...

FMF #16 - BEAT THIS

Ginger Baker was the drummer for CREAM and he had one goal, to become a drummer in a band, and he had this goal way before he ever knew how to play the drums...That's the power of a true goal.   In this episode, I talk about my own goals as a 12-year old and how I got distracted by life and lost sight of what was important, and these distractions lead me down the wrong path.  If you like these short five-minute format shows please let me know. INS027 - The Power of Webinars with Omar Zenhom

Omar Zenhom is the co-creator of the webinar platform  WebinarNinja  and host of the  $100 MBA Show . I was super keen to learn more about webinars and how they can be of benefit to small business. Does having a webinar really help your business and can you make money from running regular webinars?   The Shift We open our conversation discussing why he started his podcast show, The $100 MBA, as a daily series, then changed it to a weekly show in 2017 and now in 2018 it's back to a daily series.  As your business changes, you've got to change with it. A daily show requires a lot of planning and scheduling and you also need to develop systems around batching, especially if you wanted to take a vacation, but constriction of time creates ingenuity and creativity.  The Benefits of Webinars No one cares how much you know, they want to know how much you care and this is the biggest benefit of webinars, they build trust.  You can't build trust...

FMF #15 - Shark Tank Success Traits

Last week I spoke at a 2-day event in Brisbane called IN BUSINESS IN HEALTH and Glen Richards, one of the Sharks from the Australian Shark Tank, gave a 45-minute presentation about his journey from a country kid in western Queensland all the way through to becoming the newest member on the Shark Tank.   It was an inspiring story and it made me realise that success is possible for anyone willing to put in the hard work. Some of the information and success traits shared by Glen Richards overlapped with an upcoming podcast episode I recorded recently with Wilson Lawrence, which is scheduled for release in about a months time.  Wilson Lawrence and I talk about 5 Ways to Approach Adversity and I thought these five traits fitted in perfectly with Glen Richards story, so I've taken a snippet from my upcoming podcast with Wilson and thought I would share it in this weeks Five Minute Friday because the information is so good.  5 Ways to Approach Adversity 1. Have confidence 2...

Travis Chappell is a networking master and he resides in Las Vegas Nevada. He is the host of a very successful podcast  Build Your Network  and Facebook Group  Build Your Network BETA . Why Networking? Networking is the best way to accelerate growth in life, regardless if you’re an entrepreneur, a doctor or if you're working 9-5 and working your way up the various management levels. By building relationships with people you will accelerate your career a lot faster.  Networking At Conferences You need to have a strategy and plan in place before you attend the conference. Your goal is to build friendships and true real relationships. Don’t over complicate it. Don’t become Networking Ned – the person who runs around throwing business cards in everyone's face and then running off to the next person, but also don't be the other extreme, the person who is too scared to throw business cards around so instead, they do nothing. Expectations Networking at ...

FMF #14 - Helicopter Marketing (And Creating Business Consistency)

This weeks Five Minute Friday is based on a blog article I wrote on my website back in 2015, titled Helicopter Marketing and I thought it was time to take it for another spin.  I've been preparing all week for a presentation I'm doing in Brisbane and at the IN BUSINESS IN HEALTH conference for recent allied health graduates and newly established business owners and I've seen a lot of small business owners, not just in the health industry fall into a bad habit of helicopter marketing.  I hope you enjoy this podcast and if you have the time please read my blog article from 2015.  SAVE THE DATE: 17th - 18th August 2018 - Communication, Persuasion & Influence conference in Cairns.    Most Recent Episode

INS025 - Seasons of Sacrifice with Mark Minard

Mark Minard is an entrepreneur, speaker, best-selling author of  The Story Of You , podcast host of  Elevating Beyond , Owner & CEO of  Dreamshine  and lives in Columbus Ohio.  We opened our conversation today talking about growth: As you grow and move out of your comfort zone it can sometimes feel quite lonely, however, over time you will meet other people going through the same thing because phenomenal attracts phenomenal. Like Minds Like minded people just seem to find each other. It’s these connections that make you stronger, and it's important to nurture them and not take them for granted.   You need to learn from what others have done before you, and you need to tune into where others are getting their information. What are they reading, what are they listening to and what events are they attending?  Information Is Far More Assessable In today’s modern world information is far more assessable, but there are two sides to this, and y...

Connection Is My Word for 2018

Every year I choose a word to use for my yearly focus. I've found it keeps me on track. I’ve only been doing this for the past few years, and for me, it works extremely well, so maybe it's worth considering yourself. In 2016 my word for the year was ABUNDANCE When you look up the word abundance it means a state or condition of having a copious quantity of something…plentifulness. So you need to choose your mindset, do you want abundance or the opposite of abundance, which is scarcity...or lack of. Which word do you think will produce a more positive outcome for your year? In 2017 my word for the year was LEARNING I joking use to say that 2017 was my year of learning and 2018 was my year of earning. (Let's see how 2018 pans out) Now this doesn’t mean I'm switching off my learning in 2018, it’s just I now have a different word to focus on So my word for 2018 is CONNECTION. I want to connect with as many people as I can, not just in my local area or country but wo...
